At least 10 security men were injured in a grenade attack in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
A police official said militants hurled a grenade towards a joint patrol party of police and CRPF near police station in Tral town today.
The grenade exploded with a big bang, injuring five policemen and five CRPF men.
The injured security men were taken to Sub District Hospital, Tral.
“All the injured had minor splinter injuries and their condition is stable,” said doctors at SDH Tral said.
The injured CRPF men were identified as Ram Saru, Patel Tarik, R N Malik, Skander and K Basker Row while the injured police men were identified Ghulam Hyder, Mohammad Altaf Bhat, Reashpal Singh, Karnail Singh and Ajaz Ahmad.
After the grenade attack, police and CRPF men laid siege around the area to nab the attackers. However, no arrest was reported.
Meanwhile, Hizbul Mujahideen claimed responsibility of the grenade attack.
In a tele-statement, Hizb operational spokesman, Burhan-ud-din said militants belonging to the outfit hurled grenade in Tral due to which eight CRPF troopers sustained injuries.
He said field operational commander, Muhammad Bin Qasim has directed its cadre to speed up such attacks.
