2 MILITANTS, SOLDIER KILLED IN LAWAYPORA SHOOTOUT One caught alive in injured condition, hospitalized

SRINAGAR, Feb 5: Two militants and a CRPF personal were killed while another militant was caught alive in injured condition after a special naka party of CRPF was attacked at Lawaypora area on the city outskirts here this morning.
Reports said the militants opened fire after they were intercepted by 73 battalion CRPF naka party along Srinagar-Baramullah highway at Lawaypora area this morning at around 11.00 AM. Militants, who were travelling on a two-wheeler, when asked to stop opened fire on Naka party triggering a brief shootout.
Two militants and a CRPF personal were killed in a shootout while one of the militants managed to escape who was later arrested in injured condition. However, his family told media that he is a civilian. Incident according to reports created panic among people travelling on the road while traffic movement on busy highway came to halt for some time.
Officials said three persons travelling on a three-wheeler on Srinagar-Baramullah road without headgear were asked to stop by a constable who was part of the CRPF Naka party; however the pillion rider took out pistol from his Pheran (Kashmiri warm winter dress) and fired upon him leaving him injured.
They said the CRPF personal despite receiving bullet on his head fired back on the militants leaving two of them dead on the spot while another managed to flee from the scene in injured condition. The critically injured constable later succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
The injured militant who has been identified as Umer Fayaz was later arrested in injured condition by the police and shifted to hospital for treatment. He was affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Islamic State (JKIS) militant outfit.
Slain militants have been identified as Zia-ur-Rehman from central Budgam and Khateeb from Bijbehara area of south Kashmir. Both were affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit.
