3 civilians shot dead in Baramulla

Three persons were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Khanpora area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday evening.
Police sources said gunmen fired on three persons near Iqbal Market Khanpora in Baramulla in the evening.
“The trio sustained serious bullet wounds and died on the spot,” they said.
The deceased were identified as Asghar Khan, Asif and Haseeb Khan, all residents of Jamia Mohalla old Town Baramulla.
A police spokesman said preliminary investigation has revealed complicity of Lashkar-e-Toiba in the case.
“One Pakistan based and two local militants of old town Baramulla are the suspects in this case and wanted by law,” he said.
The spokesman said police has started investigation into the matter.
SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain said all the three were fired upon from a very close range.
“One Pakistani militant and two local militants Shoaib Akhoon and Mohsin Bhat are involved in this heinous crime,” SSP Baramulla said.
After the incident, forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area track down the attackers. The operation was going on when reports last poured in.
DGP SP Vaid in a tweet said, “The killing of three innocent young boys brutally in old Baramulla shows how life of a common man is threatened by terrorism in the valley.”
