A 70-year old former militant Ghulam Hassan Malik, who was serving detention under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Kotbalwal jail, Jammu passed away on Tuesday.
Ghulam Hassan Malik, alias Noor Khan of Pehlipora village Uri, according to his family members breathed his last at a Jammu hospital at around 2:30 pm today.
The deceased former militant was arrested by police in January this year and booked under PSA and lodged in Kotbalwal jail, Jammu.
A top police official said that Malik was detained under arms and ammunition act. “He was also involved in narcotics dealing.”
Hassan’s son Irshad Ahmad Malik told Rising Kashmir that his father was ill and taken to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, for a medical check-up by jail authorities, where he expired.
“We received a call from jail authorities that my father serving detention at Kotbalwal jail has passed away,” he said.
Irshad said his father was unwell and shifted to Jammu hospital by jail authorities a couple of days before.
He said his father was detained under ‘false arms act’ and he earlier served PSA thrice in 2005, 2007 and 2011.
Malik, according to a relative, was affiliated with Students Liberation Front (SLF) and was known militant in Uri area during 1990s
