An army man was killed in cross-Line of Control (LoC) firing in Rajouri district while a boy sustained critical injuries in a blast at Bandi Cahachain area of Poonch district.
Udhampur-based defense spokesperson, Colonel N N Joshi, said Pakistan Army breached border ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri today.
He said army men retaliated strongly and effectively.
“In the exchange of fire, Lance Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane, was grievously injured and succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital,” Joshi said.
Bhadane, 28 years, belonged to Maharshtra and is survived by his wife Punam Yogesh.
Meanwhile, a boy was critically injured after a mortar shell exploded in a nallah near LoC in Poonch district.
Police sources said at around 12.10 pm, an old mortar shell fired by Pakistani troops some time back exploded at Qasba nallah.
They said 13-year-old boy Mohammad Iqbal son of Mohammad Rashid R/o Islamabad area of Poonch sustained splinter injuries.
The injured boy was shifted to District Hospital Poonch, where from he was evacuated to GMC Jammu for specialised treatment
