All educational institutions across the valley excluding Ganderbal and parts of Bandipora district would remain closed on Thursday, authorities said Wednesday.
They said the educational institutions would remain closed in view of the civilian killings in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The authorities said they took this decision to prevent law and order situation in the Valley.
The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora postponed the exams scheduled on Thursday.
IUST Public Relation Officer said, “Exams scheduled for Thursday April 12, 2018 at IUST, Awantipora stand postponed. New dates shall be notified separately. Further, class work shall also remain suspended.”
The University of Kashmir (KU) authorities also decided to keep classwork suspended and postpone all examinations scheduled for Thursday.
“All examinations scheduled for Thursday and Friday are postponed and fresh dates for these papers will be announced later separately,” KU PRO, Faheem Aslam told Rising Kashmir.
However, talking to Rising Kashmir, PRO Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Arshad Mehraj said class work in the university would continue as normal.
“We have no examinations scheduled for Thursday and the class work will continue normally,” Mehraj said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari told Rising Kashmir, “All school and colleges shall remain open in Ganderbal on Thursday.”
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai said, “All education institutes, except those in Gurez, will remain closed.”
Officials in several districts of south Kashmir said the educational institutions would remain closed on Thursday.
“As a precautionary measure, we have decided to close down educational institutes,” they said.
Meanwhile, district administration of north Kashmir’s Kupwara and Baramulla districts decided to close down all educational institutions in Kupwara district for the students.
The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) also postponed exams of various posts scheduled for Thursday.
