Forces deployed in Anantnag to thwart protests after Friday prayers

Heavy deployment of forces was witnessed outside Jamia Masjid Ahlihadees at Sherbagh area of maintown Anantnag as the government forces feared protests following the slapping of PSA on Vice president Jamiat e Ahlihadees and chief preacher of this mosque, Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri on Thursday.

After being booked under PSA, Veeri was shifted to Kathua jail yesterday.

Mushtaq, who hails from Veeri village of Bijbehara was arrested from his home on Feb 22 and lodged in Bijbehera police station. He was subsequently shifted to district jail Mattan in Anantnag from where he was taken to Jammu jail on Thursday.

Forces belonging to JK Police, SOG and army have been deployed in strength at Janglat Mandi, Lal Chowk and some old Town areas, including outside Jamia Masjid Ahlihadees in Anantnag.
