Huriyat Conference (G) Wednesday castigated police for “creating chaos in the state” saying, “Police are humiliating and arresting Hurriyat leaders on one or other pretext and this lawlessness is being carried out under the garb of preventive custody.”
“State has been turned into a police state and detention period of those arrested is prolonged on flimsy grounds, for this lawlessness police authorities don’t follow any judicial procedure or standard norms,” Hurriyat (G) said and while referring to the detention of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Gh Mohammad Gulzar and Mohammad Ashraf Laya, Hurriyat (G) said “All these leaders were taken into preventive custody, a few days back on the day of Mugees Mir was killed and placed under house detention.”
Hurriyat (G) said: “Its senior leader, 85-year-old Shah Wali Mohammad was also arrested for leading a funeral, and till now he is in unlawful police custody.”
Hurriyat (G) accused police authorities of “bullying” saying “in every police station though it is being displayed that no one can be detained for more than 24 hours, however all these norms are thrown to winds”.
Hurriyat (G) said it wants to make it clear that all these “suppressive tactics and coercive measures” won’t break their resolve, nor can deter them from pursuing their mission.
Hurriyat (G) statement said keeping in view the importance of month of Rabi al-Awl, Tehreek-e-Huriyat is organizing a Seerat Conference on November 29, Wednesday at Hyderpora here.
Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani and other noted personalities and religious clerics are scheduled to speak in the Seerat conference, statement said.
Meanwhile Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday has expressed grief over the demise of Ab Satar Khan, brother of incarcerated political activist Mohammad Shaban Khan (Sopor) saying that “since last two years he is languishing in outside jail and authorities despite quashing his detention orders are repeatedly slapping draconian PSA on him”.
Syed Ali Geelani while extending his condolences prayed for the departed soul and forbiddance to grieved family.
