A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant was killed in an accidental mine blast on Friday night in Tral area of Pulwama district, a senior police officer said.
He said the forces recovered body of the militant at Tral. “He was killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion.”
The officer said body of the deceased militant was found lying in Eidgah at main town Tral this morning. “It was spotted by the locals, who informed the police.”
DIG SKR, S P Pani said on a tip off from the general public, a body of a militant was recovered.
“He had died while trying to assemble explosives for blast in Tral area,” he said.
A letter which was written on a plain paper and attached with the body claimed that the deceased was a non-local Jaish-e-Mohammad militant, Omar, who got killed when an IED went off accidentally in some forest area of Tral.
The letter also stated that the deceased is not any informer and requested locals to bury him at the earliest.
The complete shutdown was observed in the Tral township and adjacent areas to mourn the JeM militant’s death.
All shops and other business establishments remained close while traffic was thin on roads.
