JRL condemns youth’s killing ‘Killing spree continues despite Ramadan ceasefire’

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik Saturday strongly condemned the killing of 21-year-old Kaiser Bhat of Fateh Kadal by CRPF vehicle at Nowhatta yesterday.

In a joint statement, they said the killing spree of Kashmiris by the forces continues despite ‘Ramadan ceasefire’. “They are killing Kashmiris either by bullets, pellets or lately by crushing them under their vehicles.”
“What is worse is that after mowing down Kaiser under CRPF vehicle, a case of rash driving” has been registered by police as if the incident happened by accident, when it is a case of plain murder,” they said.
“The accused would anyway go scot free under AFSPA,” the leaders added.

JRL said assaulting mourners during the funeral and burial of the Kaiser with tear gas shells and pellets causing grave injuries to scores of them again reflects the anti-people and inhuman approach of authorities.
They said the repressive measures being adopted by forces are big stumbling blocks for peace in Kashmir and any kind of engagement.

The leaders regretted that rally at Aali Masjid to pay homage to Muhajir-e-Millat Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah to recall his great services and contribution in the field of religion and politics on his 51st death anniversary was also not allowed by the authorities as restrictions were put in place and leadership detained.
They thanked people for protesting killings of Kashmiris, intimidation and desecration of Jamia Masjid and vandalisation of houses and graveyards at the hands of forces by observing a complete hartal against these oppressive measures.
