JRL’s 2-day shutdown call to continue today

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) called for a two-day strike starting Sunday.
The JRL appealed people to offer funeral prayers after Zuhr and Asar for the militants killed in different encounters in South Kashmir.

The three leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik in a statement called for a two day strike and asked people to offer funeral prayers for the “martyrs of south Kashmir” after Asar and Zuhar prayers on Monday. People were asked to observe April 1 as the black day.

The leaders put the responsibility on India for the “gruesome incidents of bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir”.
“The India is showing stiffness and stubbornness to turn deaf ears towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir with regard to peaceful, political and legitimate resistance movement. Time and again millions and millions of people are thronging on the roads and streets of their motherland and raising slogans for their freedom movement,” the JRL said.
The leaders said that in the recent past the peaceful public processions were dealt with “iron fists and military might in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2016 by Indian establishment.”
Meanwhile, a Hurriyat official said that both Mirwaiz and Geelani have been put under house arrest after the situation turned volatile in South Kashmir parts following three separate encounters—two in Shopian
JRL condemned the “use of brute force against the peaceful public processions especially in the Southern part of the Kashmir valley, Kachdooru, Shopian and Islamabad.”
JRL also made a sincere appeal to the “freedom loving people to remain vigilant and cautious against the conspiracies to disintegrate the unity among the freedom loving people and the leadership.”
