Kashmir Bar denounces BAJ’s shutdown call

High court Bar Association Tuesday strongly denounced the strike called by the Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) to press for handing over case of rape and murder of 8-year-old Kathua girl Asifa Bano.

A spokesman of High Court Bar Association said people who believe in justice and fair play should have supported the investigation and trial of the case on fast track basis so that those who committed this heinous crime are dealt with under law.

“It is however, unfortunate that some of members of Jammu Bar Association, have raised an unreasonable and irrational demand of handing over the rape and murder case to the CBI, which has been exposed in 2009 Shopian rape and murder case, and called for Jammu banch,” he said.

The spokesman further said Rohingya Muslims stay in Jammu is temporary and it should not be politicized at this stage. Moreover, the Indian Supreme Court has also stayed their deportation and the matter being sub-judice. The demand raised by Jammu Bar Association for their deportation is totally unjustified and unwarranted”.
The Bar Association requested members of Jammu Civil Society and other saner elements to defeat nefarious designs of communal elements.
