Militant killed in Kupwara gunfight, 2 grenade attacks in Tral

A militant was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Kupwara while militants lobbed two grenades on them in Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police official said a militant was killed in an overnight encounter with forces in Handwara forest area of Kupwara today.
He said the encounter had broken out late last night after forces launched a cordon and search operation there following specific information about the presence of militants.
Meanwhile, militants fired a grenade towards 180 bn CRPF camp in main town Tral in Pulwama district, which exploded with a bang.
The grenade, according to police, missed the intended target and exploded in the premises of the CRPF camp, without causing any loss of life or damage to property.
The troops conducted search operation in the area after the grenade attack. However, no arrests were made.
Militants also lobbed a grenade towards CRPF men at Batagund Tral area.
Sources said the CRPF men fired some rounds in air after the grenade explosion.
After the grenade attack, troops launched search operation in the area.
