Multiple funeral prayers held for slain Militant commander Zakir Moosa

Multiple funeral prayers were held for the slain Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind commander Zakir Musa in Tral area of Pulwama district today.

Witness said that there was mammoth gathering of people at his native village as people from various villages had come to participate in his last rites. People from Bijbehara, Anantnang, Pulwama, Pahalgam, Tral, Kulgam and various other places were there, locals claimed.

Zakir was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Daddsara village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in the village after a joint team of army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off Dadsara village late this evening.

Zakir Rashid Bhat, his real name, joined militancy almost 6 years ago and was a close aide of former Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani.

He parted his ways with HM after the killing of Wani and criticised the Muzaffarabad based leadership of militant outfits.

He became a self styled chief of Ansar Gazwat ul Hind.

Police in a statement said that on a credible input, a cordon & search operation was launched by police and security forces at Batpora in Dadsara area of Awantipora.

During the search operation, the hiding militant fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In the ensuing encounter, one militant was killed and the body was retrieved from the site of encounter. The killed militant was identified as Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Musa of Noorpora Tral.

According to the police records, Zakir had a long history of records since 2013. He was initially associated with outfit HM then he floated new outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). (PTK)

Geelani pays tribute to Militant commander Zakir Moosa

SRINAGAR, MAY 24 (PTK): Paying tributes to a renowned commander Zakir Moosa, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that whosoever strives for implementation of divine law in His land, with his conviction and dedication are the real heros of the movement and nation is indebted to hail their precious sacrifices.

He said that the best and only way to pay homage to our martyrs is to support the freedom struggle in whatever possible way, to get rid of forced occupation.

Condemning the gruesome incident of killing of Zahoor Ahmad of Tahab Pulwama by occupation forces, the Hurriyat leader expressed his deep concern on the unabated killings spree in Jammu and Kashmir. It is a sheer political vengeance to kill the innocent relatives of the militants said Hurriyat chairman, while disclosing that Zahoor Ahmad is the brother of Irfan Ahmad, engaged in an armed struggle against Indian forced occupation.

Pro-freedom leader termed it as a gross violation of human rights to punish Paul for the crime committed by Peter or the vice versa.
