SRINAGAR, Jan 10: Security forces on Friday burst teargas shells in Srinagar outskirts to disperse demonstrators protesting against killing of a youth in an accident involving Army vehicle on Monday.
Official sources said that scores of youth hit the streets on Friday at Nowgam in Srinagar, demanding action against Army personnel involved in the accident that led to the death of a youth on Monday.
However, when the protestors were tried to march towards the Nowgam bypass, security forces deployed in the area swung into action and tried to stop the demonstrators from moving ahead.
As the demonstrators didn’t back down, security forces burst teargas shells to disperse the protestors, who started to pelt stones.
Meanwhile, the traffic on Nowgam road was also affected due to the clashes. One person, identified as Tehseen Nazir, a resident of Nowgam, was killed and another person was injured when their vehicle was hit by an Army truck in Nowgam.
