Shopian shuts for 6th day

The shutdown against the killing of local militants and two civilians in Shopian continued for the 6th consecutive day on Tuesday.
All shops, business establishments, government offices and banks remained closed in Shopian district while public transport was off the roads.
It was for the 6th consecutive day that Shopian remained closed.
Two civilians – Javaid Ahmad Bhat of Balpora Shopian and Suhail Javaid Lone of Gawanpora were killed and another critically injured in army firing at Ganowpora village of Shopian on Saturday.
People continued to visit the residences of deceased civilians to express sympathy and solidarity with their families.
Meanwhile, internet service in twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian remained suspended.
The snapping of internet service has added to problems of local population.
