SHRC seeks report from DC, SSP Kulgam

State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) Thursday sought a detailed report from DC and SSP Kulgam regarding killing of four civilians near an encounter site in Khudwani village of Kulgam district.

SHRC chairperson, Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki while hearing a case directed the SSP and DC Kulgam to file a detailed report about four civilian killings at Khudwani, Kulgam on Wednesday.

The officials were directed to file their response before May 16.
Officials of SHRC said the commission has also asked the respondents to file their response whether the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) was followed during the operation or not.

Four civilians were killed in forces firing on protestors near an encounter site in Khudwani while an army man was killed and two others injured in the gunfight yesterday.
The deceased civilians were identified as Sharjeel Ahmad Sheikh (28) of Khudwani, Bilal Ahmad Tantray (16), Faisal Illahi (14) of Maloora Shopian and Aijaz Ahmad of Bijbehara.
