Shutdown continues in Pulwama, Shopian for 4th day

The complete shutdown was observed in twin south Kashmir districts of Shopian and Pulwama for 4th consecutive day on Wednesday against killing militants and civilians in Badigam village in Nagbal area of Shopian.
Though life returned to normal in other parts of Kashmir but it remained paralysed in Shopian and Pulwama districts today also.

The markets and streets in the twin districts wore a deserted look.
Shops and business establishments remained closed. The authorities had also ordered closure of all schools and colleges in the twin districts today.

Some private vehicles were seen plying on roads and most of them were ferrying mourners to the houses of slain civilians and militants to pay their sympathies.
After April 31 killing of two militants and a civilian in Drabgam village of Pulwama, the twin districts opened normally for one day only.

The internet services remains snapped in Shopian since last 10 days and in Pulwama for 4 days.
The internet was restored in Pulwama for two days after Sameer Tiger’s killing and snapped again on evening of May 6.

Police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in strength in all sensitive points of Pulwama including at Prichoo, Murran Chowk, Rajpora Chowk, Dalipora Chowk and Washbugh to thwart any protests.
