Sikh organisations say Article 35A ‘sacred for people of Kashmir’

All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC), a grouping of Sikh organizations, on Tuesday extended their support to Article 35A, terming it as “sacred for people for Kashmir”.
The APSCC held a demonstration at Pratap Park against the attempts aimed at abrogating article 35A. They also shouted slogans supporting Kashmiriyat and communal harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said the issue regarding the abrogation of Article 35A is closely linked with the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in India.
Raina said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to ride on the politics surrounding the abrogation of Article 35A so that BJP can emerge victorious in the elections.
“It is unfortunate that BJP and the Prime Minister are concerned about electoral gains rather than the consequences that would arise if Article 35A is abrogated. People of the state are united and won’t allow such a thing to happen,” Raina added.
The APSCC extended its support to the two-day protest programme of the Joint Resistance Leadership, Raina said.
HE said Article 35A is an emotional issue for all Kashmiris.
“We think New Delhi has got the message when entire J&K observed shutdown a few weeks ago,” he said. He said all the people of Kashmir are united and any attempt to abrogate the legislation will have dangerous consequences both for Delhi and Kashmir.
Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik appeared at the venue to express solidarity with the protestors.
