SPO shot dead in Pulwama village

A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed after fired upon by suspected militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday evening.
Official sources said the gunmen fired upon Sameer Ahmad Mir son of Wali Mohammad Mir at his home at Hanjan Payeen village of Pulwama.
Sammer sustained critical bullet wounds and was shifted to nearby district hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
A senior police officer confirmed the killing of Sameer.
“Sameer was fired upon by suspected militants at his home. He was working as an SPO,” he said.
Immediately after the incident, army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Police and CRPF men cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to nab the attackers.
The combing operation was going on when reports last poured in.
On December 29, four Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed in an encounter with forces in the village.
