The mother-daughter duo and seven security men were among 20 people injured in twin grenade blasts in south Kashmir’s Shopianand Pulwamadistrict on Monday.
Police said militants lobbed a grenade towards a police party near Sumo Stand, Shopian at around 11.45 am.
The grenade, however, missed the target and exploded on roadside injuring 12 pedestrians and three policemen. Among the injured civilians included a mother-daughter duo.
The injured were evacuated to district hospital.
Doctors at District Hospital said mother-daughter duo had sustained critical injuries.
“Fareedawife of Nazir Ahmad Mala R/o SedowShopian and her daughter NaidyaNazirhad grievous injuries and we referred them to SMHS hospital, Srinagar for specialised treatment,” they said.
The doctors said Naidyahad splinter injuries in chest and her mother in legs and chest.
“The rest of the injured were treated in the hospital,” they said.
Fareedaand her daughterwere on way to visit her sister at Vehil Village of Shopian.
The duo stopped at Shopian town near Akbar Chadaee for sewing their slippers with a cobbler on the roadside when the blast took place and both sustained splinter injuries.
Naidya, 12, is 6th class student and her father Nazir Ahmad Malla is a police man, who is serving in JKAP.
Ghulam Mohammad, maternal uncle of Nadiya told Rising Kashmir that he was at his work some 8 kilometers from his house when he received a call from a local that Nadiya and her mother were injured in a blast in Shopian.
“Both of them were on fast,” he saidadding Fareeda along with her daughter was to visit her ailing sister in Vehil to enquire about her health.
The other injured civilians were identified as as Mohammad Maqbool son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Ganowpora, Mohammad Ismail son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of SangerwaniPulwama, Fareed, wife of Nazir Ahmad, resident of Sedow, NadiyaNazir daughter of Nazir Ahmad from Sedow, Farooq Ahmad Malik, resident of Tashloo, Javid Ahmad son of GhulamMohudeen of Pulwama and Mir Azim from RajporaPulwama.
SSP Shopian, Shailendra Mishra told Rising Kashmir that three police men were injured in the blast.
He said one of them,Javid Ahmad has injury in left eye and was shifted to SMHS Srinagar for treatment.
After the blast, many youth hit the streets in Shopian town and hurled stones and rocks on police vehicles. The clashes continued for some time and then subsided.
Police said militants lobbed a grenade on a moving armoured vehicle of 182 bn CRPF near public Park along Tahab road in Pulwama district this afternoon.
Commandant of 182 CRPF, NP Singh told Rising Kashmir that an assistant commandant and three CRPF men received splinter injuries in the attack.
The injured CRPF men were identified as; Assistant Commandant, AnujPatik, constable , Sumit Kumar , constable Sunbir Kumar and constable Suresh Kumar.
A civilian also sustained splinter injuries and he was rushed to District Hospital Pulwama for specialised treatment.
