A young boy was Wednesday stabbed to death in Kathua district after being attacked by a sharp-edged weapon.
The deceased has been identified as Liyaqat Ali son of Munir Hussein of Dher Phinter Billawar. Police said that they got a complaint from Nishant Kouser, wife of Imran Hussein, at police station Billawar at around 12 pm that her brother Liyaqat has been stabbed with sharp edged weapon at village Dher by two persons Abhishek Sharma son of Ramakant of Nowshera in Mahanpur and Honey Khajuria son of Ram Parkash of Dher in Billawar.
Police said that after stabbing the victim with a sharp edged weapon, the accused persons fled away from the spot. After the registration of FIR under section 302 of RPC, police started investigation. Police said that they have procured the CCTV video and have identified the accused persons and the car used in the incident.
Earlier one of the victims who was in the pool of blood and struggling for his life was referred to the Government Medical College, Jammu for advanced treatment. However, the victim succumbed to his serious injuries while being shifted to Jammu. The doctors in GMC Jammu Hospital pronounced him as brought dead. The body was handed over to the family members after the autopsy and other legal formalities.
Meanwhile, special police teams were constituted to nab the culprits and after strenuous efforts, one of the police teams nabbed both the accused near Sukrala within hours of the incident along with car (JK08C- 5917) which had been used in the crime. Another accused identified as Pankaj Sharma son of Mahant Ram of Dher Phinter Billawar was also arrested on May 2, 2018.
During preliminary enquiry it was found that there was personal rivalry between one Abid Hussain and accused Abhishek Sharma which turned into scuffle. Later, Abhishek Sharma returned with another accused namely Honey Khajuria to attack Abid Hussain upon which Liyaqat Ali intervened to save the persons and got stabbed in the incident and later succumbed.
The case has been registered in the “heinous case of murder and all the 3 accused have been arrested and investigation taken up. It is not a case of hate crime as some mischievous elements are trying to give it communal colour.”
“We assure people that we will try our best to ensure justice. We also appeal people not to believe on rumors being spread by miscreants with vested interest,” said a police official.
