Communication Blockade

Freedom of movement and freedom to communicate has been all but eliminated in Kashmir. In 2019 Indian Security forces placed the region on lockdown. They have placed checkpoints everywhere, placed down coils of wire to restrict the movement of vehicles.

The government has violated the Indian Constitution by revoking Article 370 – which granted autonomy of semi-autonomy to Kashmir.

The government has also eliminated the use of social media, severely curtailed the use of the internet, and prevented people from using landlines or mail services. Quite simply, they have turned Kashmir into a prison.
