Court extends remand of Fahad Shah till February 21
Pulwama: A court on Monday extended the remand of senior journalist Fahad Shah for a week. Earlier, he had been remanded to police custody for 10 days.
Fahad Shah, Editor-in-Chief of The Kashmir Walla, was produced before the Court of Mobile Magistrate by Pulwama Police. The court remanded him to police custody for a week till February 21.
Fahad is in police custody after being booked in connection with his reportage about Pulwama encounter. He is represented by Advocate Umair Ronga.
Defence lawyer Advocate Umair Ronga said despite court directions, police didn’t file any report.
The court had earlier directed the police to submit a report and site grounds about the detention of Fahad Shah.
“It’s complete wilful disobedience to court orders. Despite directions, no report was filed even after seven days. We are moving to the special court designated under the NIA Act to uphold the majesty of the law. Arbitrary actions by police is an impediment of justice to innocent people,” Advocate Umair Ronga said. (KNT)
