On 15th November 2021, a complex owner, Altaf Ahmed, his tenant, Dr. Mudasir Gul, and a peon, Amir Magrey were killed in a controversial military operation in Hyderpora Srinagar.

With DGP Kashmir’s recent statement of the civilians not being innocent, we spoke to the families of the three killed, and their hopes for justice.

Buried 300 kilometers away from home, Amir’s family still awaits his dead body.

While Altaf and Mudasir mortal remains were exhumed and returned to the family for reburial, their faint hope of justice is that a judicial probe be ordered into the killings.

For Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, father of a teenager killed in a military operation in December last year, the recent happenings reignited the hope that his son’s mortal remains be returned. He has dug a grave in his ancestral graveyard and says that the grave will be open till his son’s dead body is returned.
